Cela fait quelques mois que j’avais The love hypothesis dans ma PAL (pile de livres à lire). Au vu de sa popularité sur les réseaux sociaux (notamment sur TikTok), j’ai longtemps hésité à le lire. Popularité ne rime pas toujours avec qualité. Et j’ai tendance à préférer découvrir des auteurs moins connus.
Bref, ayant reçu The love hypothesis pour Noël, je me suis finalement lancée en début de semaine. Après avoir dévoré ce livre en 3 jours, j’arrive à la conclusion que TikTok avait raison. Ce livre est tout simplement adorable.
Bien que l’intrigue soit classique en matière de romance (le faux petit ami, on a déja vu), ce livre vaut vraiment le détour si vous aimez les romances. Olive Smith est une étudiante drôle et spécialisée en mauvaise décision. Elle souhaite aider sa meilleure amie qui a craqué pour l’ex d’Olive. Elle décide de lui faire croire qu’elle a un nouveau petit ami. Mais un jour, sa meilleure amie la croise alors qu’elle est censée être avec son nouveau petit ami. Olive panique et embrasse le premier venu… malheureusement pour elle, c’est Adam Carlsen … un professeur arrogant et brillant. Adam ayant aussi besoin d’une petite amie fictive pour des raisons professionnelles, ils décident de créer une fausse relation.
J’ai adoré voir la relation entre Adam et Olive se construire. Adam est dur avec le reste du monde mais doux et drôle avec Olive. Olive est … un vrai désastre niveau décision mais j’aime son côté rayonnant à coté d’Adam le râleur. Ils se complémentent parfaitement mais sont des mauvais communicants. A force d’échanges au Starbuck, de rires et manigances, quelque chose naît entre eux.
Les personnages secondaires de ce roman sont aussi très attachants (Anh, Malcolm, Holden, etc).
Ca fait du bien de lire une comédie qui est tout simplement douce, mignonne et drôle. C’est une parfaite lecture pendant ces mois d’hiver un peu déprimant. Pour moi, c’est un coup de coeur.
Conclusion : Ce livre vous plaira si vous aimer les romances douces et mignonnes (sans être niaises bien sur). Elle est légèrement sexy à la fin (mais rien de choquant).

It’s been a few months since I had The love hypothesis in my to read shelf. Given its popularity on TikTok, I hesitated to read it. Popularity does not always rhyme with quality.
Anyway, having received The Love Hypothesis for Christmas, I finally started reading it. After devouring this book in 3 days, I have come to the conclusion that TikTok was right. This book is simply adorable.
Although the plot is classic romance (the fake boyfriend situation, we’ve all seen it before), this book is definitely worth the read if you like romance.
Olive Smith is a funny college student who specializes in bad decisions. She wants to help her best friend who has fallen for Olive’s ex. She decides to make her believe that she has a new boyfriend. But one day, her best friend runs into her when she is supposed to be with her new boyfriend. Olive panics and kisses the first guy who comes along… unfortunately for her, it’s Adam Carlsen… an arrogant and brilliant professor. Adam also needs a fake girlfriend for professional reasons, so they decide to create a fake relationship.
I loved seeing the relationship between Adam and Olive build. Adam is tough with the rest of the world but sweet and funny with Olive. Olive is…a disaster when it comes to decision making but I love how she glows next to the grumpy Adam. They complement each other perfectly but are bad at communicating. Through their fake dates at Starbuck and their scheming, they will become more than friends.
The secondary characters in this novel are also very endearing (Anh, Malcolm, Holden, etc).
It feels good to read a comedy that is just sweet, cute and funny. It’s a perfect read during these somewhat depressing winter months. For me, it’s a favorite.
Conclusion: This book is for you if you like sweet and cute romances (without being cheesy of course). And it’s little spicy at the end.
